Hip hop. Heavy. Hectic.
We've been lucky enough to get a listen to the new track 'It's Not What You Know, It's What You Can Prove' from Suburban's upcoming mixtape Kick... Scream, which is due for release in the first half of 2018.
As we like to keep our nets cast wide for alternative rock bands, we bring you something a bit special here!
There have been quite a few takes on combining hip hop and heavier music styles that we've listened to in the past. Some work, and some just sound a bit weird. This for us is a really nice blend of styles, which is almost like a hip hoppy version of what could be a Refused track.
We really like where this one is going and are looking forward to the mixtape which will be full of heavy/rap hybrids, hip hop tracks, covers and remixes!
It's definitely a unique sound and the production quality itself is amazing too. But what would you expect when it's produced by Stevie Knight (Trophy Eyes, Between You And Me, With Confidence).
In terms of who would probably like this, it's a big old mix as it pulls on a ton of genres. Do you like Tony Hawk soundtracks? You'll probably enjoy it. Rage Against The Machine fan? Yep!
But also Bring Me The Horizon, Limp Bizkit, Beastie Boys, Nas, Beartooth... we can sense elements of all of those in here and you won't be disappointed.
