Track Not found are an upcoming band from the little island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands, UK.
They describe themselves on their Facebook page as ‘Metal, rock, screamo, we don’t even know…’. Our interest intensifies! We’ve got our hands on their new EP ‘The Only Way Is Lost’ and these are our thoughts:
So we were expecting some weird shouty/not very melodic thing from their description. How very wrong we were… or maybe how wrong is their description.
The spooky yet light vocals in the track Code Red – which sound almost sheep-like in parts – are lovely and melodic one minute, then crusty (in a good way) and thick the next. The guitar sounds have a more grunge-like feel to them reminiscent of Nirvana or Descendents type sounds.
The track Ecstasy is a great remedy for anyone who’s been suffering from ‘overdriven punk riff withdrawal’ recently, which we know we have. Not enough bands pushing out music with decent foot stomping riffs mixed with a shouty yet catchy chorus these days. The lead guitar in this track feels almost reminiscent of Korn in places too… it’s a cocktail of stuff you think you’ve heard in other bands mixed with a little of something unique that gels well.
Finally we gave Saint Tears a listen… get the funk out of here! Make sure you’re in a comfortable foot tapping position! Can definitely see a huge mob of kids with nose piercings standing and swaying to this one during the verses, and making the way for the odd windmill when the chorus kicks in.
I think if I had to sum this band up I’d label them ‘hard spooky passionate grunge’… again this is a good thing! I liked it a lot. It’s almost as if The Donnas had an angry emo twin sister that no one appreciated properly but is worth ten times more recognition.
The new EP is out TODAY and you can find out more about where to grab it from the Track Not Found website!
